The Clendon Pride Project was a call to action to address a number of issues in and around the Clendon Shopping Centre. Melissa Moore reactivated the Community House on Maplesden Drive which was named the Clendon Pride Project Community House.
The house was and still is owned by Kainga Ora (Housing New Zealand) and was operational under the umbrella of the Clendon Residents Group. The costs attached to running the house were support by Auckland Council and Manurewa Local Board.
A Grassroots kaupapa delivered on the smell of an oily rag, with a group of passionate Volunteers and with a group of stakeholders who could see the need for change. The very first addition to the community house was “Whare Tautoko” our free op shop run by volunteers.
Our strength is our ability to collaborate with like minded organisations. We listen to the voice of our community and deliver all of our kaupapa in collaboration with existing organisations.
